How to Compare a Kitchen Quote With HIBC Gold Membership Included

September 12, 20264 min read

A strong kitchen proposal brings the design and the numbers together. To evaluate Gold, include membership in the same calculation as the products and work you need. Then look at the complete purchase: the specification you prefer, the services included and the costs of bringing everything into your home.

HIBC provides confidential wholesale buying with no HIBC product markup. Independent showroom designers develop design and pricing. Your project still has its own specification, delivery requirements and separately contracted installation.

Start with the same purchasing scope

Put competing proposals side by side and mark differences before comparing totals. At minimum, check:

  • Cabinet quantities, sizes and layout.
  • Door construction, style, species, finish and cabinet-box specification.
  • Drawer systems, interior accessories and decorative hardware.
  • Finished ends, appliance panels, fillers, moldings and trim.
  • Assembly, delivery, unloading and any installation included.
  • Applicable taxes, fees, allowances and exclusions.

A proposal with fewer panels or different storage accessories may look cheaper without representing the same kitchen. Where two products are not identical, describe the differences honestly and decide what those differences mean to you.

Add the membership fee once, clearly

Gold’s initial enrollment is $4,995 and includes the first year. Include that fee when deciding whether the proposed buying approach makes sense for your project.

Later annual renewal is optional at $495, purchased separately, with no automatic subscription or annual charge. For an initial project, begin with the $4,995 fee; consider a later renewal separately if continued membership suits your plans.

Use a simple worksheet: quoted products, delivery, applicable charges, membership, installation and other necessary work. Keep unresolved amounts visible. A blank freight line is an unanswered question, not free freight.

What the historical examples show

Three separate historical product-quote comparisons supplied by the HIBC owner are shown below. Products and scope vary; the differences exclude membership, delivery, taxes and installation and are not a promise for your project.

Owner-provided historical comparison Quoted amount Member product amount Gross difference
Home Depot comparison $17,521 $8,865 $8,656
Lowe’s comparison $14,881 $8,150 $6,731
Local kitchen quote comparison $26,778 $12,935 $13,843

Use these gross product-price differences as examples of how to begin the calculation, then work from a current, itemized proposal for your own kitchen.

For example, subtracting the current $4,995 initial Gold fee from the first $8,656 gross difference leaves $3,661 before other costs and specification differences. This illustrates the fee calculation; your completed-project result requires your own full comparison.

Value also requires a usable plan

Before approving a quote, settle the layout, provide current appliance specifications and agree who will verify final site measurements. The most useful price is one tied to a plan you are ready to use.

Ask who updates the drawing, who verifies the site and who receives and checks the shipment. Confirm how product questions and installation questions will be handled by the relevant parties. Record the services confirmed for your project, along with any separately priced work.

Where an alternative package includes more work, price the missing work before drawing a conclusion.

Make your decision from your own proposal

Look for two things: a complete comparison that supports the fee, and a buying arrangement that suits the way you want to manage your remodel. If you are making a smaller purchase or prefer a single installed-work contract, discuss that with the team before choosing membership.
