Scottsdale buying guide · 13 / 20
Planning a Scottsdale kitchen while you live elsewhere requires more than a folder of inspiration photos. You need someone to verify the room, a way to approve exact selections, and clear limits on who can make decisions when you are away. This guide helps you build that remote buying plan before evaluating Gold membership or, for a much broader project, a Platinum materials-planning discussion.
Your home. A clearer way to buy.
Compare the details. Then decide.
Bring your ideas, drawings or an existing quote. Explore the design and pricing before deciding whether to join.
No payment or membership is required to make a request. HIBC is a buying program, not a remodeling contractor.
Name the local observer and the decision-maker
Identify the person who will physically inspect the room, meet trades and document conditions. That may be you during a planned visit or a separately engaged project professional. Confirm the person's responsibilities and availability rather than assuming a showroom or membership program provides onsite representation.
Decide which choices only you can approve and which, if any, you explicitly delegate. A local contact can report a condition without having authority to approve extra work or substitute products. Keep those boundaries in writing. Use an agreed communication channel for routine decisions, and a separate process for urgent site issues that explains whom the contractor should contact.
Make remote approvals specific enough to act on
Create a selection sheet with a product identifier, finish, quantity, location and drawing revision for each proposed purchase. Link the relevant photograph or specification rather than writing 'the light cabinet we liked.' When reviewing a sample remotely, label what the image can and cannot establish. If the final color matters, arrange to review a physical sample in the intended setting or agree on a deliberate alternative approval process.
After a call, send a concise written decision: which item changed, what cost was accepted and what remains open. Do not let a casual expression of preference become an order instruction. Ask the seller what constitutes final approval and when an order becomes subject to its change or cancellation terms.

Replace a return date with a dependency plan
Your return to Scottsdale is an important planning constraint, but it is not a supplier commitment. Ask the contractor to work backward from the date you hope to use the kitchen and identify what must happen first: approved scope, field measurements, product release, site readiness, installation and completion. Mark quoted lead times separately from confirmed dates.
Agree on what happens if an approval, shipment or site condition shifts. Which activities can proceed independently? What is the minimum usable condition you need on return? Is temporary accommodation or a revised visit preferable to rushing a purchase? Answering these questions early gives you choices if the original sequence becomes unrealistic.
Arrange receiving before the delivery is booked
Name a receiver who is available at the property and understands the seller's receiving instructions. Determine who can document damage, confirm quantities, retain packaging if needed and contact the seller within the applicable procedure. A shipment confirmation is not evidence that the right items arrived in acceptable condition.
Ask the contractor or responsible professional to confirm a suitable storage location and any manufacturer conditions for the products. Keep access arrangements private. If the home is in a managed community, ask the authorized contact about relevant delivery and contractor rules. Do not assume that a neighbor, property manager or contractor has accepted receiving duties without an explicit agreement.
Keep the project record useful while you are away
Arizona ROC's hiring guidance calls for clear written responsibilities and a documented change process. Maintain a short decision log with dates, the approving person and the current scope. Ask for milestone evidence that shows the specific item being checked, rather than an unlabeled stream of room photographs.
For work within Scottsdale, use the city's permit services information to identify the appropriate process with your project professional. Confirm jurisdiction and any association requirements for the exact address. Bring HIBC the resulting product brief and quote questions. Gold may suit the kitchen buying scope, but it does not replace your onsite representative, receiving arrangements or contractor. Evaluate membership against a complete plan that you can actually manage from a distance.
Remote kitchen decision and handoff record
Keep the worksheet with your private project files. Record contact names separately; do not include passwords, alarm details or door codes in a shared selection sheet.
Copy these prompts into private notes. This worksheet does not collect or submit information.

Questions before your next step.
Can I plan the purchase before my next Scottsdale visit?
Yes, you can prepare photos, preliminary plans and decision questions remotely. Final measurements, technical suitability, samples and approvals still need an appropriate verification process before ordering.
Will HIBC manage my second-home construction while I am away?
Do not assume that service is included. HIBC is a membership buying program. Retain and define the separate onsite, contractor, receiving and project-management responsibilities your remote project needs.
