Frequently Asked Questions

Here are clear answers to the most common questions about Home Improvement Buying Club and how our insider pricing model works. If you still have questions after reading this page, you can bring them to your free fifteen minute insider pricing call and we will walk through everything together.

What is Home Improvement Buying Club

Home Improvement Buying Club is a private buying club for homeowners. Members get access to insider pricing and professional catalogs that are normally reserved for builders and large retailers. Instead of shopping only from retail price tags, you see the kind of pricing that professionals use to plan kitchens, baths, flooring and full home projects.

Are you a store or showroom

No. We are not a traditional retail store or showroom. We do not rely on marking up every cabinet, countertop, fixture or flooring product to make a profit. Our focus is memberships and long term relationships. That model allows us to help you buy much closer to the prices that builders and large retailers pay behind the scenes.

How is this different from a big box store or local showroom

A typical store or showroom is designed to sell at retail. The displays, the staff, the advertising and the building are all paid for through the markup that gets added to the products you buy. As a buying club, our primary goal is to connect you with insider pricing and to help you choose better products at better numbers. We spend our time helping you understand the pricing and the options, not pushing one day specials.

How do you make money if you are not marking up products

Our business model is based on memberships and long term member success. When you join as a Silver, Gold or Platinum member, that membership is what pays us for the access, the pricing structure and the support. Because we are not depending on hidden margin on each product, we can stay on your side of the table and focus on helping you get more value from what you spend on your home.

What are the Silver Gold and Platinum memberships

Silver, Gold and Platinum are simple membership levels that match the size of your projects. Silver is for homeowners who are focused on flooring. Gold is for serious kitchen and bathroom projects where cabinets, counters and fixtures are a big part of the budget. Platinum is for full home remodels and new builds where you are making many material decisions across the entire property.

How do I know which membership level is right for me

We figure that out with you on the free fifteen minute insider pricing call. You tell us what you plan to do over the next one to three years. That might be flooring, a kitchen, baths, a full interior update, exterior work or a new home. We map those projects against the three membership levels and show you where each one makes sense. In many cases it is very clear which level fits your situation. In some cases we will even recommend that you wait to join until a larger project is in motion.

Is there a minimum amount I need to spend for membership to make sense

There is no hard rule, because every family and project is different. In general, the more you plan to invest in flooring, kitchens, baths or a full home project, the more powerful insider pricing becomes. On your call we look at your expected spending and typical retail markups. If we cannot clearly show how membership could pay for itself and more, we will tell you that directly.

How long does my membership last

Memberships are set up according to the terms you see when you join. Many members choose a membership that covers at least one major project and often additional projects over one or more years. That might mean using Silver for a full home flooring update, Gold for a kitchen and multiple baths, or Platinum for a full home or new build that happens in phases. You will see the specific term and renewal details at checkout.

What if I decide membership is not right for me after I join

We want membership to feel like a smart business decision for your household, not a gamble. That is why we spend time on the front end to help you understand the numbers before you join. Any refund or cancellation policy will be clearly shown at checkout for the membership you choose. During your consultation we will talk about how to get value from your membership right away so you are not left wondering what to do next.

What kinds of products can I buy through the club

Members use the club to source many of the key products that go into a home. This often includes flooring such as carpet, luxury vinyl plank, hardwood and tile, kitchen and bathroom cabinets and storage, countertops such as quartz and granite, plumbing fixtures, lighting, appliances and many of the major categories in full home projects such as windows, doors, roofing, siding and more at the Platinum level. The exact options open to you depend on your membership level and your project plans.

Can I use my membership for more than one project

Yes. Many members join because they have a series of projects in mind over the next few years. You might start with flooring, then move to a kitchen and bath, then exterior work. As long as your membership is active, you can continue to use it for those projects within the terms outlined when you joined.

Can I use my membership for more than one property

In most cases you can use your membership for projects on your primary home and other properties you own such as a rental or a vacation home. If you plan to use the club across multiple properties, let us know on your call so we can make sure you are in the membership level that makes the most sense for that plan.

Can more than one person in my household use the membership

Yes. Membership is intended to serve your household rather than only one person. In practical terms that means a spouse or partner can use the membership and be involved in the planning and purchasing process. We just ask that you do not share membership access outside your household or try to resell access to others.

Can you work with my contractor or designer

Yes. In most cases members keep working with their existing contractor, builder or designer. They continue to handle design, construction and installation. Your membership simply changes how materials are sourced and priced. We can coordinate with your contractor or designer when it comes to product choices and timelines so your project stays on track.

I already have a quote from a contractor or store can you still help

Yes. This is actually very common. You can bring quotes you have received for flooring, cabinets, countertops or other materials to your call. We compare those quotes to the insider pricing available through the club and show you where you may be overpaying. In some cases we can help you use insider pricing while still working with the same contractor or builder.

Do you install the products that I buy through the club

Installation is usually handled by your chosen contractor or installer. Our focus is on pricing, product selection and helping you buy well. In some areas we may have relationships with trusted installation partners. If you would like help with installation options, tell us about that on your call and we can share what is available in your area.

What happens on the free fifteen minute insider pricing call

This call is an introduction and a strategy session, not a hard sell. We talk about the projects you are planning, your budget range and any quotes or ideas you already have. We explain how insider pricing works, show you how it usually compares to retail and begin to estimate what membership could do for your specific situation. At the end of the call you will know whether it makes sense to keep moving forward.

Do I have to decide on membership during that first call

No. The purpose of the first call is clarity. You should never feel forced into a decision that does not sit right with you. If the numbers are clearly in your favor, we will show you that. If you want time to think or to talk with a spouse or partner, you can do that. You stay in control of the timing.

What if my project is still early and I am just getting ideas

That is a fine time to talk. If you are more than a year out from starting, we may focus the call on education and planning rather than on joining immediately. If you are within a year and especially if you know you will be buying cabinets, counters, flooring or other major items, this is the perfect time to see what is possible with insider pricing.

What if my project is urgent and I need to move quickly

If you are under time pressure, let us know right away when you book the call. We can focus the conversation on the decisions you need to make in the next few weeks and show you the most important pricing comparisons first. The goal is to help you make better choices quickly rather than rush into retail decisions you might regret later.
