Scottsdale buying guide · 10 / 20
A good kitchen showroom visit should leave you with fewer open decisions. Before you visit a Scottsdale-area showroom, decide what you need to learn: which cabinet construction you prefer, how a finish looks beside your flooring, or which appliance configuration fits the plan. Use this checklist to turn inspiration into a usable buying brief—and then decide whether HIBC membership belongs in your purchasing plan.
Your home. A clearer way to buy.
Compare the details. Then decide.
Bring your ideas, drawings or an existing quote. Explore the design and pricing before deciding whether to join.
No payment or membership is required to make a request. HIBC is a buying program, not a remodeling contractor.
Choose three questions before the visit
Start with the decisions holding up your project. For example: Do you prefer a painted or wood door after seeing it at full scale? Does a drawer arrangement accommodate your everyday cookware? Can the appliance layout you want work with the proposed cabinetry? Bring a short list, rather than trying to choose every finish in one appointment.
Take photos of the existing room and a clearly labeled preliminary sketch. Note what you intend to retain. Mark unverified measurements as preliminary; a showroom conversation is not a substitute for the final field measurements needed before an order. Record the project address privately so the team can confirm the appropriate jurisdiction and delivery area.
Confirm the appointment and buying arrangements
Before traveling, ask whether the showroom displays the product type you want to evaluate, whether the relevant samples are available, and whether an appointment is needed. A display does not establish current availability, an HIBC relationship, or the purchasing terms for your project. Confirm any arrangements with HIBC and the independent showroom first.
Be clear about the visit's purpose. An exploratory visit, design appointment, written quotation and final order review are different steps. Ask which services are included, which are separately priced, and what information is needed for the next step. If your project is still conceptual, say so; that helps prevent a tentative selection being mistaken for an order-ready specification.

Compare the details you can actually use
For each promising option, record the manufacturer, collection, door style, finish name and identifying code where available. Photograph the sample label as well as the attractive display, with the showroom's permission. Ask what is standard in the quoted construction and what changes the price. A display may include accessories or decorative pieces absent from a preliminary quote.
Test the experience that matters to you: open a comparable drawer, see the hinge operation, and consider how you would reach the storage. Treat those observations as evidence about that display. Ask for specifications for the exact products you may buy. Request a sample you can review with your home's actual lighting and adjoining materials before settling a finish.
Leave with a quote brief, not just a mood board
Create a baseline option and one alternative. Keep the cabinet layout constant when comparing finishes or construction, so you can see what changed. Identify each decorative panel, filler, trim piece and storage accessory you want priced. Then ask separately about delivery, installation and other work outside the product quote.
The FTC's homeowner guidance recommends written estimates describing scope, materials, timing and price. Apply that clarity to the follow-up brief: list the drawing version, selected products, open questions and requested quote scope. A beautiful sample becomes useful buying information when another person can identify and price the same thing.
Check the home constraints before committing
Scottsdale's home-improvement guidance distinguishes cosmetic work from changes involving structure or trades and separately flags HOA restrictions. Confirm the requirements for the actual property and proposed scope. If you live outside city limits, use the authority serving that address.
For example, the sample you like may be compatible with the room, while your proposed island relocation still needs a contractor's assessment. Keep those decisions separate. Bring the resulting specifications to HIBC for a meaningful comparison. Gold may be worth evaluating for a kitchen-focused purchase; a genuine new-home or full-gut whole-home materials plan may warrant a Platinum discussion. Either decision should follow a clear scope and current written terms, not pressure to buy during the visit.
Your showroom decision card
Keep this in your private project notes. Complete one card for the baseline and one for the alternative; do not record access codes or financial information.

Questions before your next step.
Does visiting a Scottsdale showroom mean it is an HIBC partner?
No. Confirm the independent showroom arrangements directly with HIBC before relying on a membership-related quote. This guide does not identify or endorse a particular showroom.
Should I join before choosing a cabinet finish?
Start with the free design and quote inquiry and review the current process. A defined specification makes membership easier to evaluate; a sample preference alone does not show whether the overall purchase is a good fit.
