Scottsdale buying guide · 07 / 20
An appliance package can look complete while leaving the cabinet designer with unanswered questions. A range, integrated refrigerator or wall oven is part of a larger installation. Before ordering cabinets for your Scottsdale kitchen, connect every selected model to the drawing, the required accessories and the professional responsible for its fit.

Build a model list that everyone can use
Record the exact model number for each appliance, including any meaningful suffix or configuration. Add the selected finish, installation type, door orientation where relevant and whether the appliance is new or being retained. Give the same list to the designer, seller and installer.
Use current manufacturer documents. Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove provide a model-searchable specifications and manuals library, including legacy resources. This illustrates the type of source to request for your actual selection; it does not establish HIBC availability or a supplier relationship. A product photograph or nominal width is not the installation document.
Choosing the dishwasher for this model list? Use our dishwasher sound, cycle and cost worksheet to compare the listed rating with your planned wash and drying routine before deciding whether an upgrade is worth the quoted difference.
Before locking a connected model, list the functions your household needs at the appliance and record any app, account or network prerequisite for each. GE describes model-specific cooking features that need a Wi-Fi connection; that example is not a rule for every appliance. Use our offline and connected-function comparison to keep documented behavior separate from assumptions. Keep passwords out of the schedule.
Assign the interfaces before choosing decorative details
For each model, ask the responsible professional to verify the cabinet opening, support, trim and panel arrangement, clearances, connections and service access. Have the countertop fabricator confirm any relevant cutout details separately. Keep the model documentation attached to the same revision as the cabinet drawing.
For a retained appliance, identify the existing unit rather than assuming today’s similarly named model is identical. If the required documents cannot be found, get a supported plan from the responsible parties before approving affected cabinets. The seller, designer and installer should agree who resolves a mismatch rather than leaving the homeowner to discover it at delivery.

Compare a package with a complete mixed-model option
A coordinated finish may be valuable, but the useful comparison includes the appliances you would actually choose. Ask whether the package contains all required handles, installation kits, trim, panels and connection items, and which are separately priced. Confirm delivery, installation, removal and warranty contacts.
If a promotion influences your decision, read the current written terms for model eligibility, deadlines and the purchase path. Do not deduct a possible rebate from your comparison as though it has already been received. A mixed-model option may meet your cooking priorities differently; compare the entire offer without assuming one route is always cheaper.
Check Scottsdale trade scope while choices are flexible
Scottsdale identifies altered circuits and plumbing work separately from cosmetic improvements. Confirm jurisdiction and your project’s requirements.
Ask your electrician, plumber or other responsible professional what the selected appliances require at this home. A switch in fuel, ventilation approach or connection arrangement deserves review before you authorize dependent cabinetry. If relevant association restrictions affect exterior equipment or shared building systems, resolve that question with the association too. A showroom selection does not settle a site-specific trade or approval question.
Plan for a model substitution before one is needed
Choose who can approve a substitute and which documents must be rechecked. A later model change can affect more than the appliance price: it may require a revised opening, panel, trim, countertop cutout or connection. Ask the seller to flag proposed substitutions before shipping or ordering.
Use the quote and drawing revision process to identify the superseded model and the replacement. Do not allow a verbal “equivalent” to become a silent change in the cabinet package. Where a purchase is not yet confirmed, label it tentative and identify every cabinet dimension that depends on it.
Turn the appliance schedule into a membership comparison
Bring the model list and the remaining compatibility questions to the free design and quote conversation. Confirm which products and arrangements can actually be offered before comparing the HIBC route with your outside proposal. Product selection and installation are distinct responsibilities.
For a kitchen purchase, read the Gold and Platinum membership overview alongside the complete quotes. A whole-home project may need a broader materials brief. If the appliance package alone is your only purchase, calculate the full membership route rather than assuming the membership fee will be offset.

Questions before your next step.
Can I use a standard appliance width to order cabinets?
Use the selected model’s current installation information and professional verification. A category or nominal size does not answer every question about openings, panels, trim or operating clearance.
Should I order the appliance package before joining HIBC?
First confirm the intended purchase route, actual availability and the terms of any offers you are comparing. Ask which selections need to be final for the cabinet plan, then evaluate membership using the complete scope. Avoid duplicate commitments.
