Your First 30 Days with HIBC Platinum: Build a Phased Whole-Home Materials Plan
A useful first month can turn a long whole-home wish list into a manageable set of decisions. The aim is to understand what is ready to compare, what needs more information and which selections matter next.
This HIBC planning guide offers a suggested sequence for your first 30 days with Platinum. Adapt it to your project: your builder’s construction plan sets the working priorities, and design appointments and seller timing are confirmed separately. There is no requirement to place an order within this sequence.
Days 1–7: create a clear starting point
Gather your current plans, room list, builder allowances, selected products and existing quotations. Keep the latest drawing revision easy to find so everyone can work from the same information.
Add a short description of the home you want to create. Photographs and finish references can help explain the overall direction. Alongside them, record the specifications already established by your architect, designer, builder or installer.
A preference and a requirement can both be important; labeling them makes it easier to discuss alternatives. Identify who approves changes in each category, and note any decisions the project team needs soon.
You can begin with partial information. Mark the gaps and give each one a next step.
Days 8–14: organize the material groups
Divide the home into groups that suit your project. This keeps a discussion about one urgent item from obscuring the wider purchasing plan.
| Planning group | Potential items | Information to gather |
|---|---|---|
| Exterior and openings | Windows, roofing, siding, exterior doors | Specifications and required decision dates |
| Interior fixed finishes | Flooring, cabinets, interior doors | Dimensions, finish relationships and installation scope |
| Fixtures and equipment | Lighting, plumbing products, appliances | Exact selections and compatibility review |
| Furnishing and completion | Furniture and window treatments | Room dimensions and finish direction |
These are potential categories; availability is confirmed case by case for the specific products you need.
For each item, choose a simple status: ready to quote, needs information or later phase. Ask your builder which decisions affect other work, and use those answers to set your next priorities.
Days 15–21: clarify the questions behind the quotes
Focus on the details that would materially change a purchase. Perhaps a window schedule has been revised, a flooring transition needs review or an appliance model is still undecided.
Keep the question concrete: what needs to be confirmed, who can answer and which drawing or quotation will be updated afterward? A short written answer is easier to carry into the next conversation than a collection of remembered comments.
Review quote inclusions at the same time. Separate product pricing from delivery, handling, installation, taxes and other costs. Label preliminary figures so you can recognize what still needs confirmation.
For the kitchen, request free design through independent showrooms. Share the wider project stage, your priorities and the measurements that still need professional verification.
Days 22–30: bring the plan together
Create one materials sheet with these fields:
- Item, quantity and room.
- Current specification or drawing revision.
- Person responsible for final verification.
- Availability answer and date received.
- Required-on-site date from the project team.
- Seller’s current production or delivery information.
- Order status and next decision.
Keep the required date and the seller’s stated date in separate columns. That makes timing questions easy to spot and discuss. Release an order when its specifications, responsibilities and terms are understood, rather than because a suggested planning week has ended.
Keep your membership decision comfortable and clear
Platinum enrollment is $24,995 one time; products, delivery, installation and construction are separate costs. HIBC’s role is materials purchasing coordination, with construction and installation responsibilities remaining with your retained professionals.
The initial membership refund is available within 30 days if dissatisfied and no orders have been placed. This suggested planning sequence does not extend that period. If you want to request a refund, email support directly within the applicable period; completing a worksheet or attending a meeting is not required.
For a planning question or personal help, contact Tom at [email protected]. Tell him which decision you are working through and what information you already have. A focused conversation can be the right next step, whether you are ready to compare products or still shaping the plan.
