Scottsdale buying guide · 02
A cabinet allowance can look reassuring until you choose the doors, drawers and finished ends you actually want. Before deciding which Scottsdale kitchen quote offers the better value, separate the promised product from the money provisionally set aside for it. This guide helps you turn an allowance into a purchase decision you can explain.
Scottsdale cabinet quotes · Before you commit
Is your cabinet quote ready for a second look?
Bring the kitchen you want and the quote you have. Ask us to review the specifications, allowances and buying options with you—then compare the complete cost, including membership, before deciding.
What should I include in my request?
Start with your Scottsdale project ZIP, what you want to buy and your intended timing. An itemized proposal and drawing are helpful, but you can begin without them. In the project notes, mention the missing allowance, specification or cost you most want to understand. Remove payment details and other private information from attachments.
Free initial review. No payment or membership purchase is required to request help. Photos, plans, budget and marketing consent are optional. We confirm the independent showroom, designer availability and no-charge design scope before an appointment.
Start with the cabinet plan, then compare the money
Give each bidder the same dated layout and a numbered cabinet list. Include the door style, finish, construction description, interior options, exposed ends and decorative hardware. A price for an unspecified “kitchen package” cannot tell you whether the finished room matches another proposal.
Use three labels on every line: specified and priced, allowance awaiting selection, or excluded. A blank cell is an unanswered question. If a supplier includes several items in one bundle, mark those items included in that bundle rather than adding their prices again.
Ask what the allowance actually buys
An allowance is useful only when you know its basis. Ask whether it covers materials alone or includes delivery, installation, tax and any other charges. Identify the product assumptions behind it: cabinet count, door family, drawer configuration and finish. Get the selected-product quote alongside the original allowance.
If the selected package exceeds the allowance, request a written explanation of the amount added and any related charges. If it comes in below the allowance, ask how the difference is handled under your agreement. Do not assume a credit, refund or markup rule. These details belong in the actual quote or contract.

Keep the membership comparison honest
A meaningful HIBC comparison has two complete routes: your outside purchase proposal and the membership route for the specifications you would actually buy. Include the membership fee in your decision, plus product and project costs that apply. Count that fee once across the scope you are evaluating; do not present it as a separate saving in every room.
For a kitchen-focused project, begin with the Gold and Platinum buying guide. A broader new-home or full-gut materials plan may justify a separate Platinum conversation. The tier name does not establish that your cabinet choice is available, that an allowance will be credited, or that membership will produce a particular saving.
Separate the cabinet quote from Scottsdale project work
Scottsdale distinguishes cabinet replacement from projects involving trades or structural changes. Confirm the property jurisdiction using the actual address.
For your comparison, ask who prices removal, wall repair, service changes, installation and inspections where applicable. If a remodeler provides an allowance and you are considering purchasing the cabinets elsewhere, settle responsibility for measurements, missing pieces, receiving and correction work first. HOA or condominium requirements, if applicable, deserve their own checklist; a supplier quotation is not an approval.
Resolve the three largest unknowns before you choose
Circle the three unresolved items most likely to change your decision. They might be an unselected door upgrade, installation excluded from one bid, or an unclear allowance credit. Ask for written answers rather than trying to guess a contingency that makes incomplete bids look comparable.
The FTC recommends multiple written estimates and an explanation for substantial differences. Apply that discipline to the same cabinet list. Use our quote-revision guide when an answer changes the drawing or price. You are ready to choose when the difference between offers reflects a decision you understand, rather than a missing line.

Your reusable request
Please price this cabinet scope
- Project and version
- Scottsdale-area project ZIP: [ZIP]. Drawing date/version: [version]. Desired delivery window: [window to confirm]. Please identify any site measurement or approval still needed.
- Cabinet schedule
- For each cabinet number, list quantity, width, height, depth, door style, material, finish, construction, drawer/hinge specification and interior accessories. Identify substitutions as separate alternatives.
- Finished-room details
- Show exposed ends, filler pieces, panels, trim, toe kicks, handles and appliance panels as included, separately priced or excluded. Reference the exact appliance models and current installation documents where fit matters.
- Charges and responsibility
- Separate product, applicable tax, freight, unloading, storage, installation and site work. Identify the party responsible for final measurements, receiving, damage claims and correction work. Mark unpriced items as unresolved rather than zero.
- Allowance and order conditions
- State which allowance this replaces, what that allowance covered, and the written credit or additional charge under our agreement. Include quote expiry, payment milestones, lead-time assumptions, change/cancellation terms and the warranty documents for the selected products.
Use this with the Scottsdale quote-revision checklist so a lower price does not quietly substitute a different door, finish or layout.
Changing who buys the cabinets? Check the credit first.
A product-price difference is not automatically a reduction in your remodel contract. Compare these two routes using the same retained project scope. Keep already-included costs in the contract total and add only costs that are genuinely outside it.
ROUTE A / THROUGH YOUR REMODELER
Selected-package route
Current contract total + or − the written allowance adjustment for your selected cabinet package + any confirmed costs still excluded.
Check the adjustment against the exact cabinet schedule. Ask whether tax, delivery and installation are already included before adding them again.
ROUTE B / YOU PURCHASE MATERIALS
Owner-purchase route
Same current contract total − the written credit actually agreed + your complete cabinet purchase + any additional handling or installation charges + applicable membership dues once.
The credit may differ from the original allowance. Confirm who still measures, installs and resolves missing or damaged pieces. Do not remove a service from one route unless you also price its replacement.
What if membership covers several rooms?
Count the applicable dues once in the combined purchase plan. Do not assign the full fee to each room or claim the same price difference twice. Gold and Platinum cover different buying scopes; confirm the appropriate tier using the membership explanation below.
The next step depends on your quote

The best cabinet price for your plan is a complete, comparable price. Choose the path that matches what you have in hand.
01 / STILL MISSING DETAILS
Finish the quote brief.
If a door, finish, quantity or charge is unresolved, use the cabinet quote template first. Mark unknown costs as unknown; entering zero would make an incomplete offer look cheaper.
02 / TWO COMPLETE QUOTES
Compare the full buying routes.
Use our complete-cost comparison tool when both quotes cover the same specifications and applicable tax, delivery, installation and other charges. Enter the club total before membership dues; the tool adds the selected dues once.
The comparison tool does arithmetic, not product matching or quote verification. Select the membership that fits your confirmed buying scope; a lower fee alone does not establish eligibility. Keep confidential member pricing private. If you need the club quote, request a free initial review before deciding whether to join.

Questions before your next step.
Is the lowest cabinet allowance the best deal?
It tells you little until you know what it includes. Compare the selected cabinets and the remaining project costs. A small allowance with many upgrades can represent a different kitchen from a larger allowance with your priorities already included.
Should I join before the cabinet comparison is complete?
Start with the free design and quote discussion and confirm the arrangements. Use the resulting scope and current membership terms to evaluate fit before joining. An unresolved allowance is a reason to clarify the purchase, not to assume savings.
