Cabinet buying decisions · Bellevue, Washington
Make a changed selection visible before approving it
After comparing kitchen quotes, you may change an island finish, drawer arrangement or cabinet accessory. The useful question is what the revision changes across the product list, total price and agreed work. For a Bellevue kitchen, keep one change record so a newer picture or email does not leave different providers working from different selections.
Start with the version everyone is using
Save the current quote, drawing and cabinet schedule with their dates and reference numbers. Write the proposed change beside that baseline, including what stays the same. Ask the supplier whether the order is still being quoted, accepted, released to production or already shipped. Those stages can affect the options available; a request alone does not confirm that production has stopped.
Washington L&I's Hire Smart guidance recommends written contracts that identify work, materials, price and change-order procedures, and written records of changes to contracted materials or scope. That guidance concerns hiring a contractor. A separate cabinet purchase also needs the seller's own written order terms.
Use one revision worksheet
Give each proposed revision a short reference, such as “Island finish, revision B.” Record the answer and supporting document for each row. This is a practical project record, not a substitute for the provider's contract or change form.
| Check | Record for this change |
|---|---|
| Version | The previous quote and drawing, the proposed revision, and the exact cabinet or accessory lines affected. Retain the earlier version as history. |
| Parts | Which items are removed, added or unchanged? Check quantities, product codes, finish, exposed panels, trim and hardware against the revised drawing. |
| Cost | The previous total, confirmed credits, added items, applicable delivery or tax adjustments, and the revised total. Ask the seller to reconcile the amounts without counting an old line twice. |
| Work | Any changed fitting, preparation or installation work, with the provider confirming its scope and price. A revised product quote need not update a separate installation agreement. |
| Timing | Whether the change is available at the current order stage, any applicable change terms, and the revised delivery information the supplier can confirm. |
| Accept | Who approves the revision, the approval date, and the supplier's confirmation of the version it will fulfill. Send the accepted documents to the affected providers. |
Worked example: the island finish changes
Suppose you choose a different island finish after receiving the first quote. The revised document names the new cabinet finish, but an exposed end panel and matching trim still show the earlier selection. The total is different, without a clear explanation of which items were credited or replaced.
Mark those lines unresolved. Ask the supplier for a coordinated list covering the island cabinets and all affected visible pieces. Have the designer or installer check the revised arrangement and any fitting work. Then ask for the old-to-new cost reconciliation and the accepted specification together.
If a previously selected item cannot be changed, ask what options and charges actually apply before accepting an alternative. Keep the approved finish reference with the order confirmation; do not let an unacknowledged message become the only record of the change.
Check policies before treating a revision as accepted
The FTC's online-shopping guidance advises reviewing delivery, return and refund policies before buying. For an online cabinet order, keep those policies with the quote and ask the seller how they apply to the proposed change. This worksheet creates no cancellation period, free return or guaranteed credit.
Use separate statuses: requested, priced, approved by you and confirmed by the supplier. Ask for clarification if a revised invoice, drawing and acknowledgement disagree. Resolve the affected items before authorizing the next purchase step under the actual agreement.
Reconnect the revision to your Bellevue project
A larger cabinet or changed layout can also affect access or other work. Use the Bellevue condo order checklist when building access matters, and the Bellevue scope comparison when responsibilities are unclear. Qualified professionals and the authority for the actual property resolve construction requirements; supplier approval does not replace those decisions.
Plan your next buying decision
Changing the cabinet order may also change what you keep from the old kitchen. Before coordinating removal with the new delivery, use the Bellevue cabinet donation and salvage worksheet to confirm recipient conditions, removal responsibility, staging and a fallback for declined items.
A new range hood may leave a replacement-air decision outside the cabinet quote. Use the Bellevue make-up-air quote worksheet to identify the responsible professional, equipment and access questions before accepting any affected cabinet revision.
