Bellevue kitchen decisions · Countertop measurement and cutouts
Decide what is ready to measure—and what is ready to cut
A countertop appointment should use the kitchen you intend to build, including the exact sink, faucet and appliances. For your Bellevue project, keep two decisions separate: whether the fabricator can take reliable measurements, and whether you have accepted the details needed to cut the surface. Ask how its agreement records each decision.
If your building arrangements are still unresolved, use the Bellevue condo ordering checklist first. Here, the buying decision is narrower: which component or missing answer could change the countertop opening?
Get the actual fabricator's requirements
Cambria's installation FAQ calls for cabinets to be permanently installed in the same plane and for fixtures and appliances to be available during final measurement. Its measurement checklist also allows appliance model numbers when the appliances cannot be on site. Ask your fabricator which physical items and documents it requires for your selected surface; do not assume a model number replaces a required fixture.
Have the installer confirm cabinet readiness against those requirements. A delivered cabinet shipment or an approved room drawing does not establish the installed condition. Identify who resolves a missing panel, unfinished support or changed cabinet position before the visit.
Use a decision, owner and release worksheet
For each row, save the current document, the responsible person's answer and any condition still open. Use “ready for measurement,” “ready for fabrication” or “reopened after change”; ask the fabricator to confirm what each status permits.
| Decision | Owner and evidence to request |
|---|---|
| Bases | Cabinet installer and fabricator: identify the installed drawing revision and any remaining work affecting countertop position or support. Record who accepts readiness. |
| Sink | Buyer and fabricator: match the actual model, mounting method and installation instructions. Confirm the approved cutout and how the counter edge meets the sink. |
| Fittings | Buyer, fabricator and relevant trade: agree on faucet and accessory models, requested holes and usable clearances. Identify any item still awaiting a decision. |
| Appliances | Buyer and responsible installers: supply exact model references and current installation documents. Obtain the fabricator's answer on what must physically be present. |
| Release | Authorized buyer and fabricator: identify the accepted drawing, edge, seams and cutout decisions. Record exceptions, later-change terms and who can authorize fabrication. |
Resolve the sink edge before approving its opening
BLANCO's installation guidance distinguishes undermount edge arrangements and says its supplied templates are guides; using the physical sink improves cutout accuracy. It also calls for space behind the sink for fittings. Use the instructions for your actual model and have the fabricator confirm the intended detail, rather than accepting “undermount” as a complete specification.
These manufacturer references illustrate questions to resolve. They do not establish HIBC supply, a brand recommendation or the requirements of every countertop system.
Worked example: the replacement sink has the same advertised width
Suppose a Bellevue homeowner changes the sink after the countertop estimate and adds a soap dispenser. Both sinks have the same advertised width, but that does not confirm the same opening, mounting detail or space for the extra fitting.
Mark the sink and fittings rows reopened. Give the fabricator the replacement model instructions and the actual items it requests. Ask it to reconcile the opening and hole layout with the cabinet installer and relevant trade, then identify any revised cost, measurement or schedule requirement.
Keep the earlier selection marked superseded. Authorize the affected fabrication only after the responsible parties identify the accepted revision. Confirm separately who attaches the sink and who completes plumbing connections; the worksheet does not add work to anyone's contract.
Bring one unresolved decision to the next conversation
Send the current drawing and the specific question—such as whether an undelivered appliance prevents measurement—to the responsible provider. Ask for a written answer tied to that revision. Use the Bellevue scope comparison if responsibility itself is unclear. Template readiness does not settle construction approvals or building permissions.

HIBC provides online buying support and can discuss independent showroom design options. Design scope, designer availability and any appointment must be confirmed separately. Qualified project professionals verify final measurements, construction requirements and installation.
Gold membership is a separate purchase: $4,995 includes Year 1. From Year 2, optional $495 annual renewal is purchased separately, with no automatic charge. Products and separately arranged services have their own costs. The initial membership fee is fully refundable within 30 days if you are dissatisfied and have placed no orders. Review the current membership offer and membership terms before deciding.
