Specify the delivered finish of each part
For an Augusta kitchen, a complete list of fillers, panels and trim still leaves a second question: what finish will each part have when it arrives? Add a delivered-finish column beside the accessory codes on the quotation.
Ask the supplier to distinguish finished supply, unfinished supply and any treatment expected after fitting. Do not assume every accessory is available in every finish. The actual product code and written supplier answer should identify the option being quoted.
Compare the finished result and the work
KraftMaid publishes manufacturer-specific specification resources. Use the relevant documents for the actual quoted product and request clarification when the accessory description does not identify its finish.
If field finishing is proposed, ask the responsible provider to describe the included preparation, finishing and acceptance process in the quotation. Record who supplies the materials and who coordinates the work with fitting. This is a purchasing checklist, not a coating recipe or an instruction to alter a factory finish.
Make the appearance decision reviewable
Request suitable evidence of the intended appearance, such as a labeled sample or a written match description from the provider. Identify which parts it represents and any variation the provider expects. Avoid treating a color name alone as a promise of an exact match.
The FTC recommends written estimates with clearly described work and materials. Keep the finish scope with your Augusta project quotation, then confirm access and scheduling with the installer at the actual property. Resolve open finish decisions before ordering affected parts.
Your decision worksheet
| Check | Record before choosing |
|---|---|
| Accessory code | List each visible panel, filler or trim component separately. |
| Delivered finish | State the supplier-confirmed condition on arrival for that code. |
| Appearance evidence | Identify the sample or written finish description you reviewed. |
| Finishing owner | Name the provider responsible for any work after delivery. |
| Included work | Record materials, preparation, fitting coordination and quoted scope. |
| Acceptance record | Attach the selected finish plan and remaining questions to the order. |
A worked planning example
Hypothetical example: two quotes contain the same visible trim pieces, but one leaves their finish unspecified. The homeowner asks each provider to complete the finish column. One proposal includes the chosen supplied finish; the other requires separately arranged work after fitting. With that work described and priced, the homeowner can choose a complete plan rather than discover an unassigned task at installation.
Questions to settle before ordering
Does ordering matching cabinets settle the trim finish?
No. Confirm the delivered finish of each accessory code and document any separately required finishing work.
Is field finishing always the cheaper option?
No universal price conclusion follows. Compare the actual supplied products, separately quoted work and the appearance evidence for both options.
