Ask for separately described options if you are deciding between replacing products in place and moving utilities.
A rough homeowner sketch can start the discussion, but it should not become the final order dimensions. Have the installer verify measurements and ask qualified professionals to assess proposed wall, electrical, plumbing or exhaust changes.

Separate the building permit from the trade work
San Antonio’s residential permit page explains that projects can require multiple permits based on their scope. It distinguishes homeowner permits from trade-contractor work and directs homeowners to licensed trades for new electrical, plumbing and HVAC components. Confirm the appropriate applicant and permit package with Development Services and your contractor.
The city’s guidance applies to properties within its limits, not automatically to New Braunfels or another metro community. Ask about scope-specific exemptions rather than assuming a small kitchen project needs either every permit or none.
