Describe whether the kitchen stays within its existing room or whether the project adds space, encloses another area or changes how an adjoining room is used. Keep those alternatives distinct so the product comparison does not mix different construction assumptions.
Photograph the kitchen, record appliance models and draw a preliminary layout. Identify changes to walls, power, water and exhaust for professional review. Ask your installer which dimensions and selections must be verified before cabinet and countertop orders are approved.

A permit without plans is still a permit
Raleigh’s residential guide lists room renovations, including kitchens, within its Alterations and Repairs information and directs applicants to include related plumbing, mechanical and electrical scope in the residential alteration application. Its no-plan categories still require permits; other project types require supporting plans.

Add delivery, installation, trade labor, applicable taxes, permit-related costs and membership to the product totals. Ask which amounts are fixed, which are allowances and how changes are approved. Confidential wholesale pricing should be compared against the same complete specifications.

If a Raleigh project does not need submitted plans, is it permit-free?
No. Raleigh explicitly distinguishes projects needing permits without plans from projects requiring plans. Confirm the category for your complete scope with the city and qualified project professionals; an online kitchen review is not a permit determination.
